Seattle is tipping off its 18th season in franchise history, and the Storm will be seeking its 12th WNBA playoff appearance in 2017. The squad owns 10-7 record all-time in home openers but has won eight of the last 11. Seattle has never faced Indiana in a home opener, however, the Storm is 11-5 all-time vs. the Fever at KeyArena.
The Associated Press (AP) released its preseason WNBA power poll, and the Storm garnered a fifth-place ranking with 132 points. Last season, Seattle was ranked ninth entering the season. Seattle returns 2016 WNBA Rookie of the Year Breanna Stewart, who boasted team-high honors with 18.3 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. The Storm also returns 2016 All-WNBA First Team selection Sue Bird and 2016 All-WNBA Second Team honoree Jewell Loyd. To cap 2016, the Storm won five of its last six regular season games on the way to earning the No. 7 seed in the WNBA Playoffs.
